The three Greek letters that identify the honor society are:
Theta, the first letter of the Greek word theos (God)
Alpha, the first letter of the Greek word anthropos (human being)
Kappa, the first letter of the Greek word koinonia (community)
God, humankind, and community are the three areas of primary concern to students of theology and religious studies.
TAK was founded at Manhattan College in 1976 by Brother Albert Clark, FSC and now has more than 200 chapters at colleges and universities across the United States.
Purposes/Goals of TAK:
Promote and encourage religious awareness on campus and in the community
Honor students who have excelled in theology/religious studies
Bring faculty and students together to grow in fellowship and understanding of religious topics
Are there any goals/purposes we should add for the Alpha Gamma Omega chapter?
How much time are we willing and able to devote to these goals?
How can we make these goals a reality on our campus and in the community?
How do we want people outside of the Theology department to understand what we do as the Theology honor society?
What kinds of activities would best accomplish these goals?
